Discipleship Is Relationship

That phrase originates, or so I’ve read, with a man named Joey Bonifacio.  I like it!  Prior to our return to Ukraine and settling in L’viv, we were asking God for His vision for the work He wants to do in Ukraine.  I am a pastor, that is what I love doing, but God laid upon my heart the need for a discipleship school in Ukraine.  So I began praying for confirmation and direction.

Once we arrived and settled I began sharing that vision with others.  I love how God works and confirms His plans.  Two other pastors from other cities have the same burden.  We have spoken and have begun meeting to pray, talk, and seek God’s heart and direction.  The western city of Ternopil seems to be the right place to locate a school like this.  It appears there is a facility that may be available.

The vision is for a full time school with the goal of equipping men and women for the ministry.  We want to plant new churches and further strengthen those that have been established.  Discipleship is not about filling heads with knowledge alone, but to fill hearts with the love of Jesus.  That’s where the relationship part comes in.  True discipleship is not learned in a classroom.  It is learned by coming along side others as they walk through life, experiencing the ups, and downs, together.  That certainly is the example Jesus set for us.

This is all still brand new and we are praying through the details.  We could sure use your prayers for God’s wisdom, direction, provision, and for hearts of men and women to be, being prepared to answer the call.
